TANG Renyuan, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Academic Advisor to the Editorial Board of the Journal of Shenyang University of Technology, was born in June 1931. He graduated from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 1952 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. As a professor and doctoral supervisor in the field of Electrical Engineering, he currently serves as the Director of the Special Electric Machine Research Institute, the Director of the National Rare Earth Permanent Magnet Motor Engineering Technology Research Center, and the Director of the Liaoning Provincial Rare Earth Permanent Magnet Material Application Engineering Technology Center. He is also the Director of the Shenyang Rare Earth Permanent Magnet Application Engineering Technology Center. TANG Renyuan has been awarded the May 1st Labor Medal and enjoys special government allowances from the State Council. He has led over 20 major national and provincial research projects, including the National High-Tech Research and Development Program (863 Program), the Ninth Five-Year Plan Key Projects, and the National Natural Science Foundation projects. He developed China’s first rare earth permanent magnet motor and is recognized as one of the pioneers and founders in the field of rare earth permanent magnet motors in China. He has authored the monograph Modern Permanent Magnet Motor Theory and Design and published a total of 8 books and translations. He has also published 249 academic papers, 41 of which have been indexed by EI (Engineering Index). His work has earned him 10 national and provincial awards, including the Second and Third Prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, as well as 7 national patents.
